Religion is foundational to a steady culture. By visiting Kunisaki, the importance of Buddhism in the local community is quickly apparent. Between the historic temples and quiet streets, Kunisaki is a great destination for those who want to ‘disconnect’ and get in touch with their spiritual side.

For those that are not familiar with Buddhism, it is a religion commonly practiced within Asian culture. It does not follow an all-powerful deity like other religions might, but focuses on the enlightenment of the participant. The goal for someone who practices Buddhism is to reach a greater sense of reality and understanding of life around you. Someone who practices Buddhism may try to find enlightenment through meditation or Sutra.
